TRAVEL: Swimming in the Jordán

Travel >> Destinations >> Europe >> Czechia >> Tábor

Last Saturday I had a wonderful swim in the Jordán! How? You might ask, for I am in Europe, Czechia

Jordán is the name of a water reservoir in the outskirts of Tábor, the city of radical Hussites. The artificial lake was made in the end of the 15th (yes, fifteenth) century, in 1492 – yes, that’s when Columbus discovered America!

This was my first visit there, I only went to have an important meeting with someone from Hungary, and decided to spend the whole day there. It was definitely worth it, and I can only recommend this place: wonderful medieval old town with architecture you can just admire; peaceful, safe, relaxed mood, greens, waters, terrific photo subjects – minus the tourist crowds of Prague, Český Krumlov or Karlovy Vary. What can be better?

Enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed the water, the sun, the views and the atmosphere.

How to get to Tábor?

Tábor is located between Prague and České Budějovice, 1hr 15min from Prague with car, or just a little bit longer with a train, which makes it a great day trip, if you are visiting the Czech capital. One hour from České Budějovice (Budweis).

And when you get off the train or the bus, within a few minutes you can already jump into the water! Both stations are right there.
